Time lost can never be recovered. Once a minute has passed, it’s gone for good and you will not get it back. This is the reason why time is considered the world’s most precious commodity. Unfortunately, many of us still don’t understand its true value and the implications of wasting it.
At the age of 24, my cousin Faye inherited a huge amount of money from her parents. Being an only child, she was kind of stubborn and didn’t know much about listening to other people. So, when I told her to save half of her money in the bank instead of investing a big part of it on a bar and restaurant business (which I didn’t really believe would click because of some stupid and outdated concept), she just ignored me and went on with her plans.
And as expected, her business failed just a few months after she opened it. All that money wasted for nothing, all because she had too much pride to ask for help, to listen to more experienced people and to start small.
I find it kind of ironic how important and limited time is yet there are so many ways to stupidly spend it and throw it all away.
Ladies, you might need to slow down, re-examine your life and understand how much the next upcoming hour is really worth. Whether its intentional or not, here are some ways you’re poorly spending your time and what you can do differently to make better choices and figure out the best possible way to live your life right now.
You’re Spending It With the Wrong People
Invest time in people who make your life better and not on those who just cause you emotional damage. People who put you down, make you feel bad about yourself and don’t support your goals shouldn’t be in your life. Not only that, they will make your journey more difficult and they will also take away your time from those who truly deserve it.
In the piece “6 Signs You’re Falling in Love with Someone Who Isn’t ‘The One’,” writer Zoya Gervis explains the distinction between true love and just being in love with the idea of love.
It’s hard to define what love is exactly, but I know what it’s not. Love is not a guarantee to happiness or an escape from your problems. You shouldn’t use it to fill the void in you or depend on it to realize your worth.
So, make good use of your time by working on your own happiness first before you find someone to share your life with.
You’re Wasting Your Money on Things that Don’t Matter
Time is a valuable resource and there’s monetary value in all the work we do every minute of every hour, every hour of every day. Therefore, putting your hard-earned money to good use is a wise use of time.
Instead of splurging and indulging on guilty pleasures, try to spend less, work for your future and avoid these 6 money mistakes to protect yourself from debts and financial crisis.
Yes, I know that you can be happy even without money, but why settle for that when you can be responsible and enjoy life without being completely broke?
You Don’t Take Care of Your Well-Being
Health is one of the most important things in life. If you don’t take good care of yourself, it will not only lessen your chances to live longer, but it will also affect the quality of your life negatively.
Unless you want to spend your remaining days on Earth bed-ridden, you should start making conscious efforts to stay fit and healthy.

Ladies, remember that being healthy is not only about burning calories and sculpting your body, but it is also about getting enough rest and sleep, and addressing the causes of your stress and miseries.
You’re Too Lazy to Get Better
Good enough has become your standard. You’re settling for less, you stick to your crappy job just because you’re too afraid to seek real fulfillment, you can’t leave your relationship although you know it sucks because it is familiar and you don’t want to upgrade your life because you’re too lazy to get better.
Girl, if you want to live the life that you really want and if you’re serious in making your dreams come true, you should make better choices. Think about your decisions and make sure that they are aligned with where you’re headed. Instead of slacking off, stay busy with improving yourself – your skills, behavior, health and connections.
To help you take charge of your life, transition to your new job and adjust to your new social environment, here are some tips to remember:
• Fix your own issues first because you look for happiness outside yourself.
• Have a positive perspective.
• It’s okay to make the first move.
• There’s no such thing as a perfect relationship. Different friends fulfill different needs.
Ladies, time is too short to live a life that you don’t want to be living. I hope these tips I have shared with you help you figure out the best way to live the best possible life that you could be living right now.
Wasting money on things that don’t matter is something I used to be guilty of. Only when I moved places did I realize this as I had to downsize and ended up giving away most of my belongings. Now, I spend every dime carefully.
I find that making a monthly budget and inserting one point for luxury is quite a good idea to suppress my luxury needs without making me crazy. It’s only right that we appreciate ourselves once in a while, but only if everything else is already planned out well.
Time is very precious and I have learnt this the hard way in the past. I still struggle with spending less and saving more but I’m still a work in progress. I see a lot of people in some sort of financial crisis out of poor planning and spending.
I can’t come up with a decent theory on how to avoid problem before it starts. I think many points here must be experienced first for us to know what we really want and what we get. That’s not a time wasted if we take a good lesson from it.
A lot of us are guilty of wasting time on things that don’t advance our personal lives or our careers in any way. I have made a decision to be more selective of the things I choose to trade my time here on earth for. Thanks for a great article.
Great piece. This article has made me realize that I waste entirely too much time on all the wrong people. I want to make sure that in the future I don’t spend my time, but invest it in activities that enrich my life in some way.
People often validate their wrong choices by bringing themselves down or because they can’t get something better. These days I’m learning about letting go. It’s better to walk away with nothing rather than torturing ourselves like that.
I am also trying to learn to live more simply and to be content with that I have. The endless search for “things” can be so consuming. I am learning that I can still be happy while doing without things! Having lost a job and not finding one for many months taught me a valuable lesson about this.
